Alice Louise Early Horn, 1939-2015
Born in Brownwood, Texas on December 13, 1939, Alice Early Horn passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home, going home to our precious Lord and Savior.
Alice attended grade school in the Paint Creek ISD followed by the Hockaday School in Dallas, Texas. After graduating from Trinity University in San Antonio, she earned her M.Ed. from East Texas University Dallas. Alice devoted a meaningful part of her adult life to teaching special education. She never stopped learning and teaching in any and every possible way.
Alice and her husband Allan Horn, moved to Houston in 1994wher she resided until her passing. Alice easily made numerous friends upon her arrival to Houston and was the quintessential Texas lady in every way. She had a fun sense of humor and a variety of interests. Because of her love of people it made her a natural greeter and she welcomed many newcomers to any group of which she was a part, including new residents to her beloved Bayou Bend Towers.
She also enjoyed being a greeter at the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens Museum.
A passionate patriot, Alice had a deep and abiding appreciation of our country, constitution and history. She served as a regent for the Daughter of the American Revolution, and numerous charities in Sherman, Texas. Alice was a member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Houston.
Surviving Alice are her daughter, Elizabeth Coneway Farish and husband George; her grandchildren, Peter Seureau, Harrison Seaureau and Brooks Farish; her stepchildren, Julia Friermood and husband Gary, Therese Grayson, John Horn and wife Tracee and Jeff Horn and sister-in-law, Peggy Early and children.
The family expresses thanks to caregivers Keisha Cohn, Mike James and Teresa Owens.
Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Allan Horn; her brother, Paul Early; and parents, Brooke and Frances Early.
Private services were held on Saturday, September 19 in Brownwood, Texas.
