Weekly Fishing Report for Area Lakes

fishingBelow are the fishing reports for area lakes, compiled as reported this week by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Lake Brownwood

Water stained; 85–89 degrees; 1.19’ low. Black bass are good on watermelon soft plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits over brush piles in 15–25 feet. Hybrid striper are fair on shad in Hybrid Alley. White bass are fair on Li’l Fishies and minnows at night. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel catfish are good on trotlines baited with cut bait and shrimp. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines baited with cut bait and chicken livers.

Lake Coleman

Water murky; 83–87 degrees; 6.74’ low. Black bass are fair on watermelon Rat–L–Traps and spinnerbaits, and on chartreuse soft plastics. Hybrid striper are fair on live shad. Crappie are good on minnows at night. Channel catfish are good on trotlines baited with live perch and chicken livers. Yellow catfish are slow.

O.H. Ivie Reservoir

Water stained; 79–86 degrees; 42.99’ low. Black bass are good on topwaters early, later switching to Texas rigs, shakyheads, jigs and shallow running crankbaits. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs fished shallow. Catfish are fair to good on live bait.

Lake Proctor

Water murky; 86–90 degrees; 1.35’ low. Black bass are fair on watermelon spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Striped bass are good on live bait. White bass are fair on minnows. Crappie are good on minnows and blue tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines and juglines baited with live bait. Yellow catfish are slow.
