5:00 PM UPDATE: BCSO Chief Deputy Bobby Duvall reports that Brown County Sheriff Bobby Grubbs’ condition is very grim at this time.  Doctors described Grubbs’ medical condition as having suffered a catastrophic stroke.  Family members are gathered at the hospital with Mrs. Grubbs and collectively they have made some “very difficult decisions,” according to Duvall.

“All of this is intensely difficult.  Sheriff Grubbs is a great man who has had a great legacy with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office,” explained Duvall.  “We continue to hope for a miracle.”

Original Story:  Early first responders responded to the call of an unresponsive male at the home of Brown County Sheriff Bobby Grubbs early Tuesday morning, according to BCSO Chief Deputy Bobby Duvall.

Duvall confirmed the patient was Sheriff Grubbs and that his wife had found him unresponsive around 6:45 a.m.  Emergency responders were able to get Grubbs breathing but he remained unresponsive as he was placed into the helicopter to be flown to a hospital in Abilene for treatment.

BCSO Captain Vance Hill was notifying public officials of the situation as Duvall prepared to join the Grubbs family in Abilene.

“I want to be with the Grubbs family during this ordeal,” said Duvall.  “We’ve been down this road before and he came out with flying colors.”

Duvall stated that the helicopter had to be called out of Eastland and that was why the delay in his transport at 8:00 a.m.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office asks the public for their prayers for Sheriff Grubbs.

 

“Prayer is the single most and best thing we can do,” said Duvall.  “Prayer got him through the last time and we ask for the public to pray for him now.”

Grubbs condition and the cause of his unresponsiveness was not reported as of Tuesday morning.
