Nearly four months after the death of her husband, 35-year-old Jennifer Sueann Murphy has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the February 25 shooting that claimed his life.

This story was originally published by colemantoday.com on June 24, 2025.

Murphy was taken into custody on June 20, 2025, following an April 23 indictment by a Coleman County grand jury. She is accused of intentionally assisting or encouraging the act that resulted in the death of 26-year-old Connor Murphy. The charge is classified as a first-degree felony under Texas Penal Code §19.02.

At the time of the incident, Jennifer Murphy was pregnant. She recently gave birth within the past two weeks. Before her arrest, she made a public statement on social media, saying she witnessed the shooting and held her husband in his final moments while a toddler was nearby. That post has since been removed.

The shooting occurred around 9:15 p.m. in the 400 block of East 10th Street. Responding officers found Connor Murphy with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Seventeen-year-old Jace Landyn Scott was arrested the night of the incident and charged with murder. He remains in custody at the Coleman County Jail on a $300,000 bond. He was also indicted in April.

Texas Ranger Khalid Khatib is listed as the lead witness in both indictments. The investigation is being led by the Texas Rangers with assistance from the Coleman Police Department and Coleman County Sheriff’s Office.

No trial dates have been announced.
