When Ranger College President William Campion found himself looking for a person to take over the Learning Frameworks program, he didn’t have to look far to find the perfect choice. In fact, he only had to look at his own staff to find Crystal (Dail) Rose.

A member of the college’s adjunct faculty since 2013, Rose takes over as director of the college’s Learning Frameworks program, which is designed to help new students adjust to college life. She assumed control of the program on Aug. 17.

“I’m excited about this opportunity,” said Rose, who received her Masters in General Psychology, Life Span and Human Development from Tarleton State University. “I’ve actually taught Learning Frameworks since it started. I feel like I can share what I have I have learned from teaching it, and help make the transition from high school to college a little easier for some.”

Campion agreed, saying she was the perfect fit for the role.

“This is a big thing for Ranger College, not just for the students here on our main campus, but also for our other campuses, including Erath County and Brown County. She brings a lot of experience and energy to the position. We expect great things from the Learning Frameworks program under her.”

“Hiring her only made us better,” he added.

As part of the Learning Frameworks program, students are eased into the expectations and demands of college through several initiatives, including helping develop study skills, preparation for exams, goal setting as well improving organizational skills.

“Students come away with a lot of knowledge they can use not only during their time at college, but for the rest of their lives,” said Rose, who also serves in various other roles at Ranger College, including Lead Academic Advisor, College Prep Director, Instructor for General Psychology and Lifespan of Human Development. “This is a very important step in helping them become successful in college as well as later in life.”

Rose is no stranger to the Ranger College area. A graduate of Early High School, she graduated from Howard Payne University in Brownwood before moving to Stephenville to attend Tarleton. She and her husband, Wesley, have resided in Stephenville for the past 13 years. The couple has a daughter, Victory, who is beginning kindergarten this fall in the Stephenville ISD school system.

Wesley Rose is a banker with F&M Bank of Stephenville.

The 2015 Fall semester began for all Ranger College students on Aug. 24.
