Ottis Floyd Koen

koenOttis Floyd Koen, 70, of Comanche, passed away Monday August 17, 2015, in Abilene. Funeral services, under the directions of Heartland Funeral Home of Comanche, will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday August 22, 2015, at the Comanche Heartland Chapel. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday the 21st at the funeral home. Condolences to the family can be left online at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net.

Ottis was born November 24, 1944, in Goldthwaite, Texas, to John Dempsey and Edith (Langley) Koen. Shortly after Ottis finished his schooling, he joined the military and served in the United States Army. When his tour of duty in Korea and Vietnam ended, Ottis returned to Texas, marrying Virginia Ann Kanady in Brownwood, TX. They lived in Brownwood for a period and then moved to Comanche where he lived more than 45 years. Ottis worked various jobs being employed by 3M and the Santa Fe Railroad. He enjoyed various pastimes, fishing, watching football and automobile racing. He was a quite and reserved man who loved his family, especially his granddaughter. Ottis was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.

Ottis is survived by son, Waylan Koen; daughter, Sheila Koen; granddaughter, Haley Koen; brother, Charlie Koen; numerous nieces/nephews/cousins.

He preceded by his wife of 41 years, Ann Koen; parents, John and Edith Koen; son, Harlan “Kornbread” Koen; 4 brothers & 5 sisters
