Ida Nell DeViney

Funeral services for Ida Nell DeViney, age 86, of Brownwood, will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 27, 2025, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Jones Chapel Cemetery in Early. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Mrs. DeViney passed from this life on Sunday, June 22, 2025, in a Mansfield hospital.

Ida Nell Hinson was born on August 20, 1938, near Blanket, to Bertie (Hightower) and Raleigh Ardell Hinson. Ida attended Early schools and graduated from Early High School. She married Gerald DeViney on March 30, 1958, while he was serving in the US Air Force.Together they raised two sons, Gary and Mark. Later in life Ida went to college at Howard Payne University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. She would go on to work for several companies in their accounting departments. Ida was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother that loved reading and travel. She was a member of the Jones Chapel Baptist Church.

Ida is survived by two sons, Gary DeViney and wife Jamie of Early and Mark DeViney and wife Tammy of Kennedale; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Glenda Hinson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Gerald DeViney; her parents, and a brother, Louis Ardell Hinson.
