BarbaraHavilandThe Brownwood Art Association will feature the work of Barbara Haviland during a special reception to be held at the Art Building at 215 Fisk Avenue in Brownwood from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 3rd as part of their monthly First Thursday schedule.

“I have been creating fine art for most of my life. I am an accomplished artist, painting mostly in oils, in bold rich colors that express my enthusiasm for painting,” says Haviland in her online biography. Haviland is a self-taught and accomplished painter who enjoys creating. “It is like reading a book: I can go anywhere,” says Haviland. “I get so absorbed with my creating that time passes and is gone before you know it.” Haviland favors floral designs and paintings as well as bayou landscapes.

Barbara Haviland has been actively giving of her talents and time to Associated Louisiana Artists /Gallery By the Lake in Lake Charles, Louisiana as a board member and the current co-treasurer. She is a member of Port Arthur and Nederland Art leagues, Texas Artists Museum, Oil Painters of America, and Outdoor Painters Society.

Members of the public are welcome to view Haviland’s work during the First Thursday reception at the Art Building and during the gallery hours throughout the month of September. For more information, visit
