Robert Hendrix

Robert Allen Hendrix, age 87, of Rochelle, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, in San Angelo. Robert was born on October 12, 1937, in Lampasas, Texas, to Iral Dean Hendrix, Sr. and Mattie Elizabeth (Witten) Hendrix. After graduation from High School, Robert joined the U.S. Navy. After serving in the Navy, he was discharged in California, where he met the love of his life, Eileen Marie Steger. They were married on May 28, 1960, in San Jose. They made their home there for the next 56 years. He worked many years in sales for the Southland Corporation. In 2016, they moved back to Texas, where they settled in Rochelle. Robert was a people person. He loved doing anything that provided him interaction with people. As a youngster, he had a mischievous side. He liked to laugh and have fun. He could fix anything. He liked old cars, hunting, fishing, and anything that took him outdoors. He was a great dad and a devoted family man.

Funeral services for Robert Hendrix will be at 10:00am, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady with Virgil Webb officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady. The family will receive friends Friday, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Friends may view Robert’s Memorial Video Tribute and/or sign his online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com. The pallbearers will be Dave Edmiston, Gene Edmiston, Mike Hendrix, Wes Hendrix, Jay Moreno, and Tommy Foster.

Robert Hendrix is survived by his son Scott Hendrix of Rochelle, Texas; sister Minnetta Edmiston of Voca, Texas; grandsons Jake Allen Hendrix and Elias Woods Hendrix; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Iral Dean “PD” Hendrix. Memorial contributions in memory of Robert Allen Hendrix may be made to the Placid Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 48, Rochelle, Texas 76872.
