Alta Alewine

Alta Pauline Alewine, age 64, of Brady, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at her residence in Brady. Alta was born on May 25, 1961 in Brady, to Alton Roberts and Pauline (Pierce) Roberts. She grew up in Brady. She married Cecil “Charlie” Alewine on June 24, 1978 in Brady, Texas. Alta and Charlie moved to Sonora where Alta was a long-time member of the Sonora Volunteer Fire Department and also served many years as the Fire Department secretary. She was known as the one who “took care of things”. She was a very good wife and a great mother. She loved her family and was a loving caretaker, very caring, and forgiving. She was the glue that held the family together. She raised 2 kids of her own and 2 that she didn’t to. Her great-grandson was the light of her life. She also enjoyed fishing. She was a member of Greater Life United Pentecostal Church in Brady for many years. Alta and Charlie moved back to Brady in 2013.

Funeral services for Alta Pauline Alewine will be held at 2:00pm Monday, June 9, 2025 at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady with Reverend Jeff Leverton officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery. Friends may view and/or sign Alta’s online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com. Pallbearers will be Marty Roberts, Jacob Richardson, Brandon Roberts Daniel Roberts, Kevin Reeves, and Colton Massey.

Alta Alewine is survived by her loving husband Charlie Alewine of the home; son Charlie “Bubba” Alewine of Brady, TX; daughter Charlotte Alewine of Big Spring, TX; honorary brother Cecil Lambertino of Brady, TX; father Alton Roberts and wife Marilyn of Brady, TX; brothers Tony Roberts and wife Barbara of Brady, TX, Brian Roberts and wife LeAnn of Brady, TX, Aaron Roberts of Brady, TX, Alton Roberts of Brady, TX, and Matthew McCaa of San Angelo, TX; sisters Kayleen Richardson and husband Timmy of Brady, TX, Mary Massey and husband Ernest of San Angelo, TX, and Christie McCaa of Monroe, LA; grandchildren Brittney Cook, Tanner Cook, Haley Jane Alewine, and Destanie Alewine; great-grandchild Kyler Mitchell; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
