Brownwood has been honored in the book “100 CITIES 100 MEMORIALS: RESTORATION, RECOGNITION, & REMEMBRANCE “ for its World War I memorial.
Brownwood was selected as one of only three in Texas and one of only 100 nationally by the World War I Centennial Commission and the Pritzker Military Museum and Library for its World War I memorial representing dedication, sacrifice, and heroism.
In addition to moving and re-dedicating the World War I memorial, the Central Texas Veterans Memorial has added a granite tablet with the names of the 39 Brown County veterans who died in World War I and three metal plaques dedicated to World War I.
The book by Jennifer Wingate provides a deep understanding of each memorial and World War I.
The book is available from Amazon.
