BELTON, Texas – The Howard Payne men’s and women’s tennis teams were swept in dual matches by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday afternoon in Belton.

The men’s team dropped their match 6-3 to UMHB but still have a chance at the ASC West Division title with a win at McMurry this next Tuesday.

“They (UMHB) jumped out quick and we could not ever recover enough to take the lead,” said head coach Sally Brown. “The effort was there but we lacked the intensity their team brought today. Good news is that we still control our destiny.”

The women’s team dropped their match to UMHB 9-0. “Their women’s team is a good team and just more than we could handle today,” added Brown.

 

Howard Payne women and men will close out the regular season on Tuesday as they travel to Abilene to play McMurry University.
