

Brownwood’s Chelsy Lipsey was named the Class 1A-2A-3A-4A Track and Field Coach of the Year, and eight Lady Lions earned Class 4A all-state accolades from the Texas Girls Coaches Association on Thursday.
Hannah Deen, Rebekkah Delgado, Icess Hall, Aniah Hines, Braycee Lee, Jade Morin, Kaya Phillips and Kate Tindol were each named all-state, as all eight competed at the UIL Track and Field State Championships in Austin on May 1, where the Lady Lions won their first team state championship – a first for any girls sports program in Brownwood High School history.
Icess Hall, Jade Morin, Kaya Phillips, and Aniah Hines won a gold medal in the 4×100 relay in a time of 47.0; Kaya Phillips won a gold medal in the 200 meters in a time of 23.75; Kaya Phillips, Jade Morin, Aniah Hines and Kate Tindol won a silver medal in the 4×200 relay in a time of 1:39.14; and Jade Morin, Kate Tindol, Rebekkah Delgado and Braycee Lee won a silver medal in the 4×400 relay in a time of 3:50.93 – all new school record times.
Also, Hannah Deen placed fifth in the high jump with a jump of 5 foot, 4 inches, Kate Tindol place eighth in the 300-meter hurdles in a time 46.07, and Kaya Phillips placed eighth in the long jump with a jump of 17 feet, 4 inches at the state meet.
Receiving academic all-state status from Brownwood were Lee, Tindol, Sidney Windham and Miranda Northcutt.
In Class 3A, Early’s Jamie Vassar was selected TGCA All-State as well, as she placed fourth in the state in the shot put in Austin on May 1 as well. Vassar’s best effort at state was 40 feet, 9.5 inches.
