The Central Counties Training Coalition will host a seminar on Friday, July 24th at Texas State Technical College in the multipurpose room.  The public is invited to participate in this educational opportunity, which can benefit anyone working with children.  Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be made available.

The morning session is geared towards the general population and non clinical staff of child serving agencies.  The afternoon session is aimed at the clinician as it entails the skills used for trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy.

A presentation entitled “Trauma Informed Care Helping Children Heal And Trauma–Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy” will be given by Seanna Crosbie, LCSW.

Seanna Crosbie is the director of program and trauma-informed services at Austin Child Guidance Center (ACGC), where she oversees the therapeutic services, projects, and clinical staff. She is also a private consultant who provides trainings on trauma-informed care and organizational change within agencies.  Crosbie is the Chair and Founder of Trauma-Informed Care Consortium (TICC) of Central Texas (www.traumatexas.com), which is comprised of over 50 child-serving agencies, with the mission of building a trauma-informed community in Travis and surrounding counties.

Having trained nearly 1,500 professionals on topics including trauma-informed care in the classroom; understanding the Adverse Childhood Experience Study; creating trauma-informed systems of care within organizations; trauma 101 – identification and treatment of trauma in children; trauma and homelessness; and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, Crosbie has both trained a variety of professionals locally and statewide.  Her students include counselors, social workers, psychologists, nurses, advocates, teachers, attorneys, law enforcement, and juvenile justice as well as parents. She brought the first Cross-Discipline Trauma Conference of Central Texas to the area as well.

Crosbie is considered Austin’s local expert on trauma, having lead ACGC through the process of becoming one of the first trauma-informed organization in the area. She has been interviewed on local news stations regarding traumatic events, and ways to help children recover. Additionally, she serves as a contributing expert to DailyRx (1-800-therapist), was recently published in U.S. News and World Report on material depression, and has also been published in Austin American Statesman.  Crosbie has over 15 years of experience providing trauma treatment to children and families and is a certified trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapist; her area of expertise is evidenced-based treatment for children impacted by trauma and abuse as well as working with mandated populations.

For more information, please call Deborah Marlin at 325-646-9574 or Michele Wells at 325-643-2557.

The Central Texas Training Coalition is an alliance of human service agencies.
