At a short meeting this morning of the Brown County Commissioners Court, Precinct 2 Constable Troy Henderson announced that he plans to retire on May 30. Henderson, who was re-elected in 2024, explained that he did not intend to run for re-election last year, but no one else filed to run for the position. He then filed for re-election, but even then planned to work only through May 2025, because he is eligible for retirement in June. Henderson has since then been looking for someone to take over his job after May, but without success so far.
The Commissioners will have to appoint someone to the job to serve the remainder of 2025 and all of 2026, with the position up for election again in November 2026. To serve as Constable in Precinct 2, the individual must live in Precinct 2 and must be a certified Peace Officer. Anyone interested should contact County Judge Shane Britton.

The annual membership dues are $752. The Commissioners decided to take no action, and to allow the County’s membership in NACO to expire.
