Joe Ann (Hopper) Gault, 87, of Priddy, Texas passed away Friday, April 18, 2025 in Comanche, Texas. A visitation with family will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in the Zion Lutheran Church 1374 TX-16, Priddy, Texas with interment to follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Priddy, Texas.
Joe Ann Hopper was born to Bert and Clara Stegemoller Hopper on August 6th, 1937 in Priddy, Texas. She was the second child born to Bert and Clara with Kathleen Hopper Bessent the oldest and Bobby Gene Hopper the youngest. Joe Ann grew up in Priddy, Texas on a small working farm. She went through all 12 grades and graduated from Priddy School, Priddy, Tx. Joe Ann was a loving mother that raised a family of four children. She married Bill C. Gault in Priddy, Texas January 22, 1993 and early on they enjoyed dancing, going out for ice cream and shopping. She enjoyed working outdoors with gardening and flowers, cake decorating and floral arranging. In past years she was well known at the local markets for her Bunny rabbit business. Joe Ann will be remembered by her family for her delicious homemade bread, chocolate pies, banana pudding and cooking. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling, cleaning and landscaping her homesteads in central Texas.
Joe Ann is survived by her husband, Bill Gault of Comanche, Tx; daughter, Venetia Schiller and husband Mark of Bellville, Tx; sons, Johnny Kunkel and wife Kay of Wharton, Tx, Keith Kunkel of Inez, Tx, Terry Kunkel of Early, Tx, Terry and Summer Gault of San Antonio, Tx; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Joe Ann was preceded in death by her parents Bert and Clara Hopper; siblings, Kathleen Bessent and Bobby Hopper; and grandson, Stephen Lee Lundell.
The families would like to extend a big heartfelt “Thank You” to Legacy Estates Long Term Care for their wonderful, loving care of our Mom during her stay there. We would also like to thank nurse Bre of Alpha Omega Hospice for her care of our mom at the end of her life.
