The Mills County Sheriff’s Office shared the following information on social media Wednesday:

Goldthwaite resident, Stephan Geltz, is the inaugural recipient of the Mills County Sheriff’s Office Outstanding Citizen Award. He was presented the award at the Monday, April 14th Commissioner’s Court meeting. The sheriff’s office was honoring Geltz for his actions on the morning of March 7, when he encountered an elderly man in distress, unaware of his surroundings and suffering from the elements. Geltz brought the man to the sheriff’s office where he had been reported missing by his wife.
