Michelle “Shelly” Sylvia Lorene Rivera, 57, of May, Texas passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025. A visitation with family will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Heartland Funeral Home, the Funeral service will be held in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM, Monday, April, 7, 2025 with interment to follow at May Cemetery.

Shelly was born February 7, 1968 in Brownwood, Texas to Billy Sr. and Peggy Waddle. She attended Brownwood High School and married the love of her life, Ed Rivera May 14, 1986. Shelly worked as a Certified Nurses Aide in long term care for over 30 years touching many lives over the years. She loved short-bed Chevy’s, Camaro’s and Trans-Am’s. Anything that was fast but she drove slower than the local grandma’s club. Shelly loved her nieces and nephews more than life itself, she was very involved in their lives and loved spending time with them hearing about their lives, their sports and activities, time well spent in her opinion. Shelly had a fascination with Air Jordan high top tennis shoes, Nike, Under Armour and Levi’s. She bought every niece/nephew their first Nike outfit. Uno was her favorite card game with the kids, loved cooking out on the grill, gambling and she loved to fish although she didn’t get the chance to go very often. Shelly was always helping the kids with their show pigs, never met a stranger and claimed the kid’s friends as her own. Miranda Lambert was her favorite artist, she could always be found with an ice cold Dr. Pepper or bribed by an ice cold Dr. Pepper and loved her brothers more than anything in this world.

Shelly is survived by her brothers, Billy Waddle Jr. and wife Kerrie of Rising Star, Harold Waddle and wife Janette of May, Brent Rose and wife Cheryl of Olton; sister-in-law, Norma Rivera of Brady; Best friends in the whole world, Christina Day and husband Brandon of Brownwood & Richard Long and wife Katrina of Brownwood; nieces, Heather Carrier and husband Brian of Brownwood, Amber Roesly and husband Doug of Rising Star and Kaylee Kirk and husband Tristin of Amarillo; nephews, Justin Waddle and Emily of May, Harold Waddle and wife, Mia of Brownwood, Dusty Waddle and Haley of Rising Star, and Alan Rose of Amarillo; great nieces and great nephews, Kylie, Brooklyn, Aleece, Payton, Colt, Hadley, Kye, Doug, Greyson, Weston, Breckyn, Camden, McKinleigh, Fallon & Hadleigh; and many co-workers and friends.

Shelly was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ed Rivera; and her parents, Billy & Peggy Waddle.

Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
