Richard Heady

Richard Dean Heady, age 72, of Brady, passed away from this earth Tuesday, April 1, 2025, after a lengthy battle with illness. Richard was born on June 4, 1952, in Arthur, Texas to Wesley Heady and Dorothy (Hale) Heady. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked in the oil field and drove a truck until 2001. He lived in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. He married Joanne Stoffer on August 31, 2000, in Seminole, Texas. He and Joanne moved to Brady in May of 2001, after living in Eunice, New Mexico for several years. He loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, going to car shows, hunting, and sitting in the barn drinking a beer and listening to tradio. He was a member of Redeemer Church in Brady.

Funeral services for Richard Heady will be at 12:30pm, Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Redeemer Church in Brady with Reverend Paden Behrens officiating. Friends may view and/or sign Richard’s online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Stoffer, Rusty Heady, Todd Hendrix, Randall Jinkins, Terry Heady, Johnny Williams, Cody Hendrix, and Caleb Heady.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Heady of Brady, Texas; son Rusty Heady and wife Tasha of Artesia, New Mexico; step-daughters Becca Hendrix and husband Todd of Artesia, New Mexico, Norma Stoffer of Bangs, Texas and Amanda Williams and husband Johnny of Brady, Texas; numerous grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, three brothers, a son, daughter-in-law, three grandchildren and one step-daughter. Memorial contributions in memory of Richard Heady may be made to the Hospice organization of choice.
