It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Sue McCoy Varner, better known as Nana to all who knew her. She sadly left our world on March 9, 2025, at the age of 74. Barbara was born on September 15, 1950, in Abilene, Texas to Willie Carl and Faye Louise McCoy.

Barbara was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Nana was known for her kindness, special relationships with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, love for crafts, and most importantly her love for Jesus. Nana always had that smile on her face with a word of encouragement when you needed it most. She was never one to judge and was always one who believed in all. She was strong and courageous, much like her daddy, but with a heart of gold like her mother. She meant the world to her children who are left to live up to her family values and her love for her family.

Barbara is survived by her mother, Faye McCoy; sister Janet Lee Johnson (husband Mark); daughter Donna Evans (husband Jimmy); son David Varner (wife Britni); son Keith Varner; son James Varner; her grandchildren Bailey (husband Ethan), Coy (wife Jadea), Trace (Whitney), Colton (Sarah), Trenten (Tristyn), McKinlee, Brennen, Karlee, Greyson, Kohen, Kenna, Briggs; and her great grandchildren Kamden, Mason, Ollie, Harper, Wrenley, and Red. She is also survived by her nieces Stacey Humphrey (husband Mike) and Stephanie Chavez (husband Jason).

She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Carl McCoy.

Nana’s strength, compassion, and endless love for her family will never be forgotten and she will be truly missed every second of every day. A celebration of her beautiful life will be held on Thursday March 13, 2025, at Aldersgate Enrichment Center Chapel with visitation being held beginning at 9:00 am and the service to follow at 10:00 am. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
