Sid D. Perkins, age 92, of Brownwood, was surrounded by family when he went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2025. A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, March 11 beginning at 12 PM, prior to the funeral service starting at 2 PM in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early. Interment will take place at Eastlawn Memorial Park following the service.

Sid was born at home on October 15, 1932 in Erath County to Samuel Ocie Perkins and Ethel L. Thackerson Perkins. After graduating from high school, he attended college to study mass communication. Sid proudly served in the United States Army. After serving, he began his long career as a route salesman for Morehead Food Company. He also was a Square Dance Caller for over 50 years in several surrounding states. Sid was a faithful member of Early Church in Brownwood. He was the only male member (much to his delight) of the Sweet Hattalines Club that entertained at area nursing homes and other various organizations. Sid also enjoyed traveling; primarily going on cruises, playing 42, cards, and visiting the Senior Citizens Center in Brownwood.

Sid is survived by his life partner, Rosa Hoffman; children Shelly Eslick and husband Wayne, and Scott Perkins; step children, Cathy Maldonado and Kevin Eoff, Angie Cox and husband Roy, and Randy Calhoon; together, Sid and Rosa have 10 grandchildren, Brandon, Misty, Amanda, Cherie, Jamie, Kimberly, Jason, Jessica, Landon, and Mauri; and 28 great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Derwin Perkins; 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
