Brownwood Lady Lion Leslie Rios qualified for the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association state meet with a second-place finish in the 220-pound weight class at the Region II-4A Large School meet in Dublin Friday.

Rios lifted a total of 740 pounds – 305 in the squat, 155 in the bench press, and 280 in the dead lift.

Also at regionals, Aliyah Berndt placed third in the 220s and Kynley Martin finished fifth in the 181s.

The THSWPA state meet will take place March 11-15 in Edinburgh. Rios will compete on Friday, March 14.
