Several Brownwood High School Choir students earned high ratings at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest in Stephenville, TX on Saturday, February 22.

The following students earned a 1 (highest rating) on their Class 1 Solo and qualified for the State UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest in May: Gale Balfour, Langston Barnes, Addison Bennett, Kailee Bessent, Alden Cecil, Jack Field, Aqua Garcia, Stephon Hawthorne, Emory May, Chloe Pringle, Alivia Waller, and Bennett Windham.

In addition, the following students earned a 1 on their Class 2 solo: Hatchet Brewer, Willow Camp, Gabriela Castaneda, Isabelle Early, Lillieana Lara, Judah Lee, Tanner McDaniel, Timothy McNeely, Skyler Northcutt, and Bo Powell.

“BHS Choir students have been working hard on learning their solos since they came back to school from the break in January,” stated BHS Choir director Jennifer Reeves. “These solos must be chosen from the UIL Prescribed Music List (PML) and are in a variety of languages. Our BHS Choir students’ solos were in English, Italian, and German. Singing in a foreign language is no easy task, but all of our students worked hard during class, and before and after school to fine tune their music, and their diligence paid off.”
