A Grand Opening ribbon cutting was held last week at the new location of Weakley-Watson Sporting Goods.  Weakley-Watson Sporting Goods store has been in Brown County for 139 years and recently relocated to its new facility at 515 Early Blvd. in Early, TX.

Weakley-Watson was opened in 1876 by the Weakley family and is now owned by David Furry.  The store is the oldest continuously operated gun and ammo store in the United States. It has survived through two World Wars, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Desert Storm and the Iraq War, not to mention the great depression.  Furry stated, “It’s a great honor to own this piece of history and to have it located in Early.”

A Grand Opening celebration will take place this Friday and Saturday, May 8 & 9 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.  Furry and the staff of Weakley-Watson Sporting Goods invite the public to come shop and enjoy the special discounts throughout the store this weekend. There will be a virtual shooting range on location until noon both days.  Hot dogs will be served on Saturday at noon.
