Verda Fay (Falkner) Anderson

Verda Fay (Falkner) Anderson, 81, of Brownwood, Texas passed away Friday, January 24, 2025. A visitation with family will be held at Heartland Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, January 31, 2025. The funeral will be held at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 1st, 2025 with interment to follow at Cross Plains Memorial Cemetery.

Verda was born in Cross Plains on November 16, 1943 to Daniel and Olene Falkner. Verda graduated from Cross Plains High School and attended Brownwood Business College. Verda worked for Weatherby Ford for over 30 years and worked for Bruner for about 10 years in the office. She married Tommy Watts and they were blessed with a son, Terry Watts. In 1977 Verda married W.O. Anderson and gained a daughter by marriage. The two of them built a life together in Brownwood that lasted until W.O.’s passing in 2013. Verda was a member of a bowling league earlier in life and loved to spend time with her friends. Her son, Terry, was bowling at age 6. Verda loved family gatherings and spending time with the grandkids. She also devoted her time to the Christ Today Revival Center. Verda played the piano, sang, cooked meals and was always willing to serve the Lord.

Verda is survived by her son, Terry Watts and wife, Dawn of Brownwood; bonus daughter, Diane Anderson of Brownwood; sister, Jean Kellar and husband Danny of Cross Cut; grandchildren, Mauri Watts, Trevor Watts and wife, Morgan, Jamie Anderson, Devin Rowland and wife, Patricia, Macy Richardson and husband, Jimmy; great grandchildren, Jade, Noah, Cash, Taelyn, Tripp, Declin, Jett all of Brownwood; church family and many friends.

Verda was preceded in death by her husband, W.O. Anderson; father & mother, Daniel & Olene Falkner; sisters, Earlene Justice and Rita Buris.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care and friendship provided to Verda and them by Oakridge Manor and Hendricks Medical Center.
