Lawrence “Larry” Beason, 95, of San Saba, Texas, passed away on December 29, 2024 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Marble Falls, Texas. A rosary for Larry will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Thursday, January 02, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in San Saba, Texas. A service for Larry will follow the rosary and begin at 3:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the San Saba City Cemetery after the service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba, Texas.

Larry was born to Lawrence Beason and Annie Ault Beason in Malvern, Arkansas, September 28, 1929 and passed peacefully at sunrise on Sunday, December 29th holding the hand of his lifelong love, Madeleine. They were married for 70 ½ beautiful, adventurous years. Larry always said his greatest accomplishment and desire in life was to raise a loving, close family and live to see a great, great grandchild…both of which he did.

When he married Madeleine in 1954 he had two requests. If it be God’s will he wanted a large family and secondly, that no liver and onions ever be served in his home. Both of those prayers were answered.

He was a father to six children, Cheryl, Cindy, Cathy, Larry Jr, Cissy, and Mary.

Larry served in the Navy before going to the University of Texas where he met the love of his life, Madeleine. Married in 1954, they joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served until 1966 attaining the rank of Major. Precious memories were made while serving in the Philippines. Returning to the U.S., Larry attended Law School at the University of Texas before joining Coke and Coke law firm in Dallas for his career and to raise his family. In 1977, he and Madeleine left the big city behind for rural life in Wylie, TX. They raised horses, cattle and dogs, a passion that continued the rest of his life.

He and Madeleine eventually moved to Mineola, Texas after they finished raising their six children. There he set up a private practice, became a municipal judge, made numerous friends, and was Regional Director for USMC Toys for Tots. It gave him profound joy to aid families in need. He and Madeleine were active in the Marine Corps Auxiliary throughout their time in Mineola. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and was known to say, “We’ll get ‘em next year.”
