Mills County Chamber of Commerce Hosts 13th Annual BBQ & Goat Cook Off

On Friday and Saturday, April 23-24, 2010 Mills County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 13th Annual BBQ and Goat Cook-Off.  The general public is invited to compete for over $5,000.00 in prize money!

This event is free to attend and open to the public.  Cooking Teams’ entry fees will vary based on which categories they compete in. Cooking teams will be able to compete in the following categories: Goat, Brisket, Chicken, Pork Spare Ribs, and Beans.

Money will be awarded in 1st-3rd place in each of the meat categories, and also 1st-3rd Place for Beans.  Prize money will also be awarded to the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion.

This is a Lone Star BBQ Society Sanctioned Texas State Championship Cook-Off.  The Grand Champion will be a qualifier for the American Royal Cook Off and the Great American Cook Off, both in Kansas City.  Grand Champion will also be entered into a lottery drawing for the Jack Daniels Cook Off in Lynchburg, TN.

Entry Fees are as follows:

  • $60.00 – Any or all meat categories
  • $10.00 – Beans
  • $10.00 – Campsite Electricity (limited)

The event will be held in at the Goldthwaite, TX City Park and all food must be cooked on site!

  • Meat inspection will begin Friday morning, April 23.
  • Food turn in and judging will be Saturday, April 24.
  • Winners will be announced and awards given at 6:00 PM, Saturday, April 24.

There will be a dance in the park Friday, April 23 featuring JK Country Duo 7:00-10:00 PM and there is no admission charge.  There will be vendors in the park with arts and crafts, foods, and games Saturday from 9:00 AM –6:00 PM.  Performances by JK Country Duo Saturday at 11:00 AM and again Saturday night from

9:00 PM – 1:00 AM.  There will be a street dance on the courthouse square featuring Six Market Boulevard Band. Admission is $7.00 admission for the street dance and there is no cooler charge.
