Brownwood Fire Department – Fire & Rescue Reports 3/24

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the period of March 16-22, 2015 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 27 medical emergencies, 3 fire calls, 2 hazardous materials call 1 public assistance and 1 agency assist call.

Reports of interest that the Brownwood Fire Department responded to include:

Monday, March 16

*3:11 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1600 block of Avenue E.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find an armchair on fire in a vacant lot.  The fire was extinguished.

*12:27 PM – BFD responded to a lock-in at a property in the 1500 block of Market Place Blvd., a  vehicle was locked with a child inside.  Firefighters unlocked the car and returned child to the parent with no incident.

Tuesday, March 17

*2:47 PM – BFD was called to an agency assist in the 1400 block of Austin Avenue.

Sunday, March 22

*6:19 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the area of 7th Street and S. Hwy 377.  Utility lines were down, but there was no hazard.

*8:41 AM – BFD was called to a fire in the 100 block of Early Blvd. regarding a confined cooking fire.  Upon arrival, Brownwood Police Department had extinguished the fire with an extinguisher.  Early Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene and BFD cleared the scene.

*10:04 AM – BFD responded to a hazardous materials call in the 200 block of Austin Avenue regarding a gas leak.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find church members evacuated from the building.  Firefighters used a gas detector but were unable to detect gas in the building.

*7:37 PM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 1600 block of 1st Street. Fire crews found a gas leak.  The meter was shut off and the gas company was notified.
