May boys rally past host Zephyr, 38-36, for tournament championship

ZEPHYR – The May Tigers edged the host Zephyr Bulldogs, 38-36, Saturday night to earn the Zephyr tournament championship.

May (10-1) trailed Zephyr 14-5 after one quarter and 19-18 at halftime, but grabbed a 31-28 advantage heading into the fourth period and held on down the stretch.

Ben Harrell scored a team-high 15 points for the Tigers followed by 10 from Kobey Morris, six from Tyran Perry, five from Brody Stice and two points from Mikey Scheriger.

For the Bulldogs, Ethan Byers poured in 11 points trailed by Cooper Walls with six, Reese Hamm with five, Bauer Blair and with four, Wyatt Stevens and CJ Byers with three apiece, and Spencer Marwitz and Hunter Davidson with two points each.

The Tigers visit San Saba Tuesday, while the Bulldogs welcome Mullin.

May 84, Jonesboro 35

The May Tigers reached the championship game by defeating Jonesboro, 84-35, Saturday morning

May led 16-7 after one quarter, 42-17 at halftime, and 70-25 heading to the third period.

Brody Stice scored a team-high 22 points trailed by 17 from Ben Harrell, 14 from Kobey Morris, eight each from Jackson Lusk and Tyran Perry, five apiece from Mikey Scheriger and JD White, three from Kaden Watkins and two points from Wyatt Hardy.
