May boys advance to De Leon tournament championship game, girls split two in Hico

DE LEON – The May Tigers improved to 5-1 on the season and advanced to the championship game of the De Leon tournament with a 51-31 win over host De Leon Friday.

The Tigers led 14-11 after one period, trailed 21-20 at halftime, but regained a 36-23 edge heading to the fourth quarter.

Kobey Morris scored a team-high 21 points trailed by 11 from JD White, eight from Ben Harrell, five from Kaden Watkins, four from Mikey Scheriger and two points from Jackson Lusk.

May Lady Tigers 63, Whitney 19

Southwest Christian 44, May Lady Tigers 29

HICO – The May Lady Tigers split two games at the Hico tournament Friday, routing Whitney, 63-19, after falling to Southwest Christian, 44-29.

In the win over Whitney, May led 18-5 after one quarter, 32-5 at halftime and 50-15 through three periods.

Jordyn Gerhardt paced the Lady Tigers with 17 points trailed by Mia Musick with 14, Chloe Lord with 13, Kenlyn King with seven, Summer Hicks with six, Aubree Gerhardt with four and McKenna Landes with two points.

In the loss to Southwest Christian, the Lady Tigers trailed 17-7 after one quarter, 29-17 at halftime, and 41-17 through three periods.

Jordyn Gerhardt led May with 13 points followed Musick with eight, Lord with four, and Landes and King with two points apiece.

The Lady Tigers (3-8) will complete their stay at the Hico tournament with a noon contest Saturday.
