Coggin Elementary held its fifth annual 6th Grade Flag Football Draft on Wednesday, November 13. Parents joined their student-athletes in the gymnasium for the event coordinated by Coach Brandon Brown.

Stehl Ratliff, a former Brownwood Lion, 4-year starting Running Back, and one of the top three all-time leading rushers at Brownwood High School (BHS), served as the guest speaker and encouraged the young players with insights from his own experience. Ratliff, who graduated from BHS in 2012, was a four-year college athlete and now runs his own business, Ratliff Homes.

As the draft round picks commenced, players were selected and called out by name to join their teammates at the table. After the final round, each team took turns getting photos with their teammates. The following team names were chosen by the players: Brownwood Elite, Catch It, The 49ers, The Benchwarmers, Brownwood Lions, and The Snags.

The two top teams will face off in the annual 6th Grade Flag Football Super Bowl on January 14 at Brownwood High School.
