Omega Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is currently conducting their annual pecan sale. Members use these funds to purchase paperback books for each second grader at 14 elementary campuses.

Pecans are locally supplied, and halves sell for $13 per pound. Delivery will begin the week of November 4th. Anyone wishing to order pecans may contact Nancy Lowry, Kay Ribble or Kimber Bennett.

This chapter project, entitled “Kindness Matters,” is in its eighth year. Originally, the chapter supplied books to only Brown County students, but in recent years has enlarged their scope to include Coleman and McCulloch Counties.

Chapter funds are supplemented by a grant from the Alpha State Texas Educational Foundation, the fundraising arm of the Texas DKG that provides resources for projects, leadership, and scholarship.

DKG international is an organization that recognizes key women teachers.
