MINERAL WELLS – The Brownwood High tennis team’s fall season reached its conclusion Tuesday with a 12-0 bi-district playoff loss to Peaster.

“They’re always a tough program to play, and we wish them the best of luck in the Area round,” Brownwood tennis head coach Dalton Hutchins said of Peaster. “We were honored to make the playoff season, but we didn’t put up a big enough fight early on to set ourselves up for a better bi-district match-up. But that’s all fuel to motivate the team for next year. Now we have to turn our attention to the spring individual season and get to work for the next couple of months. I really appreciate all the family and admin that came out to support the players this season, and big shoutout to Mr. Gill for cheering on the team today.”

The Lions and Lady Lions finished the team season with a 4-8 overall record and went 1-3 in District 7-4A action.

Competing in the bi-district match for Brownwood were Eric Smith, Wesley Goodrich, Blake Hutchins, Trine Baugh, Aiden Oplotnik and Andre Martinez in boys singles; Ashlyn Bundick, Ihana Figueroa, Zoe Smith, Anna Daniel, Amy Deechaleune and Emory May in girls singles; Baugh and Hutchins, Goodrich and Smith, and Martinez and Oplotnik in boys doubles; Bundick and Smith, Figueroa and Daniel and Deechaleune and Kirra Neff in girls doubles; and the mixed doubles team of Cooper Morgan and Makenzie Williams.
