Lady Lions fall in four sets to district foe Mineral Wells

Sara Stubblefield and the Brownwood girls (13-16, 0-3) travel to Stephenville Tuesday for a 6 p.m. contest.

The Brownwood Lady Lions forced a fourth set Friday, but were still unable to notch their first District 6-4A volleyball triumph as Mineral Wells emerged with a 25-15, 25-20, 22-25, 25-13 victory Friday afternoon at Warren Gym.

Aniah Hines paced the Brownwood offense with nine kills trailed by Trinity Roberts with seven, Aubrie Felux and Hannah Deen with six apiece, Miranda Northcutt and Demayha Hooker with three each and Jentry Coalson with one.

Icess Hall distributed 17 assists followed by Hines with seven and Felux with six.

Felux served a team-best three aces while Hall, Hines and Laine Johnson each chipped in one.

On the defensive end, Maddi Scott led the way with 11 digs trailed by Hall with 10, Deen with nine, Felux and Hines with five each, Johnson and Sara Stubblefield with four apiece, Hooker with two and Jakayla Peek with one.

At the net, Hines logged three blocks along with a pair from Roberts and one each from Northcutt and Hooker.

The Lady Lions (13-16, 0-3) travel to Stephenville Tuesday for a 6 p.m. contest.
