Geanne D. Taylor, 97, formerly of Richland Springs, died in her home in Austin on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Geanne was born to William Homer Dunivan and his wife Ethel Sue Offield Dunivan on July 12, 1927, in Ranger, Texas.  After moving throughout West Texas during the oil boom she and her mother settled in Breckenridge, Texas where she met her helpmate, partner, and best friend Jack H. Taylor.  They were married in Breckenridge on May 15, 1953.  Geanne and Jack were 3 days shy of their 70th anniversary when he passed on May 12, 2023.  They made their home in Big Spring and Coahoma, Texas where they both worked tirelessly in the Jack H. Taylor Contracting Company.  In 1973, following the sale of their business they moved to Jack’s family’s farm in Richland Springs, Texas.  For 41 happy years they farmed, ranched, gardened and were active in the First Presbyterian Church in San Saba.  Geanne loved to cook, to can vegetables from the garden, to play Bridge, to entertain guests and to paint.  When the grandchildren came along, she loved to cook for them and her pies and cakes were things of beauty.  Following advanced years and declining health, Geanne and Jack moved to Austin, Texas to be near their daughter and their doctors.  Geanne had 11 happy years in Austin getting to be with great-grandchildren and their parents.

Mourning the passing of Geanne are her daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Jon Athnos of Stamford, Connecticut and Leslie and Jim Cameron of Austin.  Also grieving Mema are her grandchildren Susan Cameron Devitt, Aimee Caroline Athnos, Abigail Cameron Meade, Meghan Athnos Hanson, and James Cunningham Cameron.  Great-grandchildren are Hattie E. Devitt, Robert J. Devitt, William T. Devitt, Graham R. Meade, Cameron C. Meade, Laurel Mae Cameron and Johanna R. Cameron.  Geanne also leaves behind 3 nieces and 4 nephews.  The family would especially like to acknowledge Dedra and Yolanda who tenderly cared for Geanne and allowed her to stay comfortably in her home until her passing.

The family will hold Memorial Services for Geanne D. Taylor on October 12 at 2pm at the Richland Springs Cemetery with the Reverend John Alsbrooks officiating. A burial will follow immediately in the Richland Springs Cemetery.  Local arrangements provided by Blaylock Funeral Home.
