Bangs Annual Lighted Christmas Parade and Christmas in the Park Set for December 13th

CartoonSantaThe Bangs Lighted Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, December 13th at 6:00 p.m. Parade line up will be on Gantt Street at 5:15 p.m.

Participants should enter Gantt Street from Ash Street, other entrances will be blocked.  The lighted Parade will leave Gantt Street promptly at 6:00 p.m.; turn right on Hwy 586 and go one block; turn right on Fitzgerald and go west to South 1st Street; turn right on South 1st Street and go north to Kyle Street; turn right on Kyle Street and go east to South 3rd Street; turn right on South 3rd Street and back to starting point.

Grand Marshals are local business owners Ben and Nona Carnes.  The Carnes are a couple who both have contributed greatly to the community over the years, according to parade organizers.

Those watching the parade are invited to also come to the Bangs City Park after the parade to enjoy Christmas in the Park, Presented by Bangs Business Association, First Baptist Church, and Bangs MDD.  There will be a presentation of the Live Nativity, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and hot cocoa, cider and homemade cookies.  The public is invited to enjoy all Christmas activities, which are free of charge.

LaFreda Kilburn, parade organizer for the Bangs Business Association, said no deadline has been set to sign up to participate in the parade; however, advance sign-up will allow planners to prepare for entries.  For more information or advance signup, call LaFreda 325-998-1567, or email mylovingtouch@verizon.net.  There is no entry fee to participate in the parade and everyone is welcome to attend.
