James Michael Sanders, 69, of Santa Anna, passed away on July 11, 2024 at Hendrick Medical Center in Brownwood. He was born on December 15, 1954, in California to Furman Alfred Sanders and Edna Belle Boyd Sanders . James had a rich and fulfilling life that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

In his early years, James attended school in Lewisville, where he laid the foundation for his strong work ethic and dedication to everything he pursued. He later went on to work in the oil fields around Abilene and Coleman, showcasing his commitment to hard work and perseverance.

Beyond his professional endeavors, James had a profound passion for helping others. Described as someone who would help any person and welcome them into his home with open arms, James embodied kindness and generosity in every aspect of his life.  One of James’s favorite pastimes was working as a mechanic, where he found joy in fixing vehicles and equipment. His skilled hands and problem-solving abilities brought relief to many in need of repair.  James also enjoyed traveling the open road on his Harley.

James is survived by his two sons, Austin Sanders of Kentucky, Joe Sanders of Denton; nine brothers and sisters, Brenda Jennings of Grand Prairie, Gailia Gore of Santa Anna, Tommy Sanders of Krum, Sandy Harper of Grand Prairie, Debra Salas of Colorado, Phillip Sanders of Rising Star, Linda Hanlon of Cisco, Pam Lacik of Kingsland and Perry Sanders of Garland.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and his first grandchild that will arrive in a few months.

He is preceded in death by an infant son, Furman Sanders, his parents, Furman and Edna Sanders and one sister, Gloria Jean Williams.

James will be remembered not only for his hard work and dedication but also for the warmth and compassion he shared with everyone he met. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing he made a positive difference in the lives of many.

A graveside service to honor the life of James Michael Sanders will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Santa Anna Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Marvin Hale officiating.  Burial will be in the Santa Anna Cemetery.  Remembrances and condolences may be for the family on James’ tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com.  Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Sanders family.
