Aubrie Felux (3) and the Brownwood girls host Early in first of seven pre-district home games.

The Brownwood Lady Lions volleyball team competes in its first and only scrimmage a month from today, then kicks off the 2024 regular season in 35 days as it embarks on a second season under head coach Cheyenne Lovelady.

Coming off a 7-27 campaign and 0-8 league mark, Brownwood will find itself in a larger district in 2024 as Brock joins the 6-4A schedule along with Stephenville, Graham, Glen Rose and Mineral Wells.

Following an Aug. 9 scrimmage at San Angelo Central, the Lady Lions host Early in the regular season opener on Aug. 13.

Additional home pre-district games include Llano (Aug. 27), Bangs (Sept. 3), Jim Ned (Sept. 10), Brady (Sept. 13), Granbury NCTA (Sept. 17) and Abilene Cooper (Sept. 20).

Pre-district road matches include Lampasas (Aug. 20) and Wall (Sept. 6), along with trips to the Abilene Bev Ball tournament (Aug. 16-17) and the Albany tournament (Aug. 29-31).

The 6-4A slate begins Sept. 27 at Brock followed by home games with Glen Rose (Oct. 1) and Mineral Wells (Oct. 4). Brownwood’s rounds out the first half of district at Stephenville (Oct. 8) and at Graham (Oct. 11).

The script flips for the second half of district as Brock (Oct. 15) visits ahead of trips to Glen Rose (Oct. 18) and Mineral Wells (Oct. 22), followed by the final two regular season games at home against Stephenville (Oct. 25) and Graham (Oct. 29).

With six teams being in the district this year, there are no byes in district play as has been the case in the recent past.

The bi-district round of the playoffs, should the Lady Lions advance, is set for Nov. 4-5.
