Barbara Shipp

Barbara Kay Hodges Shipp, age 83, of Thunderbird Bay took her last breath on Earth and her first breath in Heaven around 5:30 PM, on June 22, 2024.

Barbara was born on November 1, 1940 to Willis Collier Hodges and Helen Hunterman Hodges in Pampa, Texas. Barbara attended school in Hobbs, Texas where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. She met and married the love of her life Winfred Shipp in July 1959. They shared 64 years together. Barbara had 2 children Randy and Celissa. She attended, graduated and earned a degree in Business Administration at Cisco Junior College while her kids were in elementary school. Barbara was employed at Snyder National bank and West Texas State bank in her younger years. She retired from Snyder Independent school district where she worked as a secretary in the attendance office, audio visual, and athletic department. Barbara was a virtuous woman, a noble wife, an amazing mother and an awesome mamaw. She was always there to lend a hand, an ear, and shoulder. Barbara was a praying, southern Baptist Christian lady. She was full of grace, dignity and a very strong woman. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones and will never be forgotten.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Celissa Shipp Simmons of May; Grandchildren, Kerissa Shipp Bell and husband Cameron Botts of May, James Kristopher Simmons and wife Lindsay of Meadowlakes, Floyd Hunterman Shipp (Hunter) of East Texas, Austin Randall Shipp of Colorado, and Kristin Child’s of Colorado; Great Grandchildren, Collier Bell, Evan Bell, Kamryn Botts, James Kristopher Simmons II, Jaley Simmons, Jeremiah Simmons, Ember Shipp, Rosie Shipp, and Taylor; Bonus Greats, Anna, Eli, Oliver, 

and Christopher; Sister, Carolyn Wall ( Sissy) of Tulsa. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband Winfred (5 months ago); her son Floyd Randall (Randy); parents W.C. and Helen; and her brother Carol (Bud).
