Brownwood emergency responders were called to a one vehicle accident at the Vine Street underpass Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., a maroon Chevy Tahoe was traveling northbound when it crossed into the southbound lane and struck the sidewalk portion of the underpass.

The driver stated that her vehicle “slid and crashed” into the sidewalk and railing.

Although the driver appeared to be uninjured, her vehicle sustained heavy damage, as the railing ripped off the hood and impaled the engine compartment of the vehicle.

Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene of the accident.
