The latest production at the Lyric Theatre is slated for Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 as Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka takes the stage. Show times are 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. each day.

According the Lyric website, “The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder and new songs by Leslie Bricusse (Jekyll & Hyde, Doctor Dolittle) and Anthony Newley, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth.”

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and can be purchased at brownwoodlyrictheatre.com. More information is also available on the Brownwood Lyric Theatre Facebook page.

Also, beginning June 3 the Lyric Theatre will host a Kid’s Theatre Workshop. Disney’s Winnie the Pooh Kids (younger) and Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr (older) will be the shows produced this summer. The Lyric anticipates both groups will hit capacity (25 each) quickly, so registering as soon as possible is encouraged. Registration is not considered complete until all forms are completed, and funds paid.

There are a limited number of partial scholarships available – please complete the scholarship form provided on our website. Please note due to space availability and shows the Lyric will strictly limit the participation for each group to 25.

YOUNGER GROUP (performs August 2-4) will meet on Mondays & Wednesdays from 9am to Noon and the OLDER GROUP (performs July 26-28) meets on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9am-noon. The week prior to their performance each respective group meets every day. Rehearsals begin the week of June 3.
