Mary Lucy Mackey, 84, of Early, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18th, 2024. In accordance to her wishes, no public services will be held.

She was born on April 12th, 1940 in Pendleton, Oregon to Robert and Gladys Jennings. Mary grew up in the close-knit community of Pendleton and graduated from Pendleton Senior High School. For most of her working life, Mary dedicated herself to customer service, developing a reputation for her attention to detail and putting others first. In her free time, she immensely enjoyed reading and losing herself in a good book. Those closest to Mary will remember her for her steadfast determination and unwavering integrity. When she made up her mind about something, she wholeheartedly stood by her convictions with a sense of stubbornness that could be both maddening and admirable.

Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Mackey; sister Ruth Clark; brothers Jim Jennings and Pat Jennings; sons Harry and Robert Forbess; grandchildren Danny Forbess, Michael Forbess, Cassie Wilburn and Katie Glover; as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She rejoins her parents, Robert and Gladys Jennings; brothers Charles and William Jennings; and her son, Danny Gene “Tad” Forbess, who predeceased her.

Online condolences, memories and tributes can be made to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
