Norma Jean Umsted was born November 6, 1933, to Dave and Arkie Baker in Welty Oklahoma. She departed this life on May 23, 2024, to her heavenly home at the age of 90.

Norma spent her youth in Creek County Oklahoma attending schools in Slick & Welty. She and her husband Max Umsted resided in Andrews, Texas where they raised 2 children Sherry and Don. Norma was an accomplished tailor and seamstress and owned her own business while there. She enjoyed being with family and friends and always enjoyed a good game of dominoes, which she almost always won. Norma had strong values and always wanted the best for her family.

Upon retirement Norma and Max moved to Bristow, Oklahoma. When Max passed away in 2009, a few years later Norma moved to Brownwood and was a resident of Songbird Nursing Home for the past 2 years.

She is survived by Don and Jill Umsted of Brownwood and Sherry Umsted of Ravia Oklahoma. 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Norma is preceded in death by 1 grandchild and 1 great-greatgrandchild.

Services are pending at this time in Ravia Oklahoma with the arrangements under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood Texas.
