GrusendorfTroyFormer Bangs Chief of Police Troy Grusendorf turned himself in to authorities Thursday after a Brown County Grand Jury issued an indictment of Abuse of Official Capacity.  The case is being investigated by the Texas Rangers.

45-year-old Grusendorf reported to the Brown County Jail shortly after 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning.  He was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.

Grusendorf had served as Bangs Chief of Police until he resigned Thursday, August 28th, after an investigation was opened into possible misconduct, according to Bangs Mayor Eric Bishop.

Grusendorf was alleged to have had a city employee that was under his supervision doing work at his new residence, a rental property, while they were being paid by the City of Bangs, according to Bishop.

Currently the City of Bangs is receiving applications for chief of police and expects to hire someone to fill the position after the new year.  Over 60 applications have been received according to Bishop.
