SAN ANGELO – The District 6-2A softball champion Bangs Lady Dragons cruised to a bi-district championship with a 22-1 victory over the District 5-4A fourth seed McCamey Thursday in a one-game playoff at San Angelo Central High School.

Trailing 1-0 after half an inning, Bangs scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. The Lady Dragons added two more runs in the second inning and nine in the third for their most lopsided victory of the season.

The Lady Dragons collected 14 hits and drew seven walks, while McCamey (5-12) committed seven errors. Abby Wolf finished with three hits and four RBIs while Cheyenne Rush also drove in four with a pair of hits. Jadyn Miller and Jordan Valdez each contributed two hits and a pair of RBIs, Emily Baker and Julianna Ethridge each chipped in a hit and an RBI, and Mattisyn Taylor, Neeley Bradley and Mariah Ruiz also finished with one hit apiece.

In the circle, Wolf and Aubrey Buford combined to yield one run on three hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Bangs (19-8) will face District 5 runner-up Stamford (19-7), which had an opening round bye, in the area round of the playoffs next week.
