Brownwood High School graduate Shelby Miller notched his second victory of the 2024 Major League Baseball season recently and has maintained a 0.00 ERA through four relief appearance this season.

On Thursday, April 4, Miller tossed two innings of scoreless relief, striking out four batters and walking two as the Detroit Tigers rallied to defeat the New York Mets, 6-3.

Miller has pitched six innings and recorded six strikeouts with a pair of walks out of the bullpen for the Tigers.

Miller, 33, now owns a 43-58 record in 12 seasons with one save and a 4.05 ERA in 207 games, including 133 starts, and 826 innings pitched. Miller has struck out 692 batters and walked 333.

Miller signed with the Tigers (6-3), who are currently in second place in the American League Central, in the offseason – the ninth team of his career along with the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Miller made his MLB debut on September 5, 2012 with St. Louis.

On May 11, 2013, Miller tossed a one-hitter with the Cardinals, retiring the final 27 Colorado Rockies batters in a row after yielding a lead-off single. Miller notched 13 strikeouts in the contest.

Miller appeared in the 2015 All-Star Game as a member of the Braves, as he posted a 3.02 ERA in 33 starts with a 6-17 record. Miller was one out away from recording a no-hitter against the Florida Marlins on May 17, 2015.
