Pecan Valley Republican Women holding Bangs City Council candidates forum April 16

The Pecan Valley Republican Women will host a candidate forum for the City of Bangs, Council candidates at the Bangs Community Center,  April 16, 2024.  The doors will open at 5 pm to meet and greet those running, and the forum will start promptly at 6 pm. The election will be held on May 4, 2024.  We would like to invite you, our local media, to cover the event for the community of Bangs. 

The city council is the governing body overseeing all municipal operations. It sets policy and direction for the city, by enacting ordinances, passing resolutions and deciding issues ranging from the annual budget, to public safety, streets and infrastructure, employment, tax rates and usage fees for city services, and various other administrative and operational functions. The City also provides some budgetary support to the Volunteer Fire Department.

The Council also approves all appointments to, and budgets for, the Bangs Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and the Bangs Municipal Development District (MDD), to promote economic growth and development within the community

The incumbents running are William Loyd, Greg Parrott, and Waymond Sheppard.  Other candidates running are Slade Byars, Jerry Ellison, Cynthia Johnson Frizzell, Aaron Gomes, and Carol Wells.

Early voting begins Monday, April 22, 2024, and ends Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 8 am- 5 pm. ELECTION DAY IS MAY 4, 2024.
