DIAMOND ROUNDUP: Lady Dragons blank Winters to stay flawless in district

BANGS – The Bangs Lady Dragons improved to 12-8 on the season and 4-0 in District 6-2A softball action with a 15-0 home win over Winters Friday.

Bangs scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and added 11 more in the second.

The Lady Dragons’ 12-hit attack included two home runs and five RBIs from Abby Wolf; a home run, a double and three RBIs from Julianna Ethridge; two doubles, a single and two RBIs from Jadyn Miller; a double and an RBI each from Mattisyn Taylor, Jordan Valdez and Stormy Stringer; a single and an RBI from Cheyenne Rush; and a base hit from Neeley Bradley.

In the circle, Wolf tossed a two-hit shutout with three strikeouts and one walk in three innings.

Breckenridge 15, Early Lady Horns 4

EARLY– The Early Lady Horns slipped to 2-4 in District 8-3A softball action and 5-14 on the season with a 15-4 loss to Breckenridge Friday.

The Lady Horns trailed 6-3 after one inning, 10-3 after two and 14-3 through three frames

Early recorded nine hits – three by Marissa Reedy, who homered and drove in a run; and one apiece from Stoney Laughlin, Sydney Greaves, Jamie Vassar, Rylee Tupin, Gabby Leal, and Emilee Wallace. Tupin was also credited with an RBI.

In the circle, Greaves yielded 11 earned runs on 14 hits with two walks in five innings.

Breckenridge 5, Early Longhorns 1

BRECKENRIDGE – The Early Longhorns are still in search of their first District 8-3A baseball victory after dropping a 5-1 contest at Breckenridge Friday.

Early (3-12-1, 0-4) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning but gave up two runs each in the third and fifth innings and another run in the fourth.

The Longhorns recorded just two hits – by Jordan Campos and Ki Houston – and drew four walks.

On the mound, Ethan Pallette went the distance and gave up five unearned runs on five hits with nine strikeouts and one walk. The Longhorn defense committed seven errors behind him.
