March Sales Tax Up in Bangs, Down in Brownwood and Early

Sales tax allocations for the month of March were released this week by the Texas Comptroller’s Office.  In Brown County, the City of Bangs enjoyed a nice increase compared to March 2023, while the City of Brownwood and the City of Early both experienced decreases.  The March sales tax allocation reflects taxable retail sales in January 2024.  Details below.

BROWNWOOD

The City of Brownwood received $511,652 in March, down 1.31% vs. March 2023.  Fiscal year-to-date (October 2023 through March 2024) Brownwood has received $3,537,623, down 1.06% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.

The Brownwood Municipal Development District received $171,348 in March, essentially even with March 2023 (up 0.05%).  Fiscal year-to-date the Brownwood MDD has received $1,155,318, down 0.56% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.

EARLY

The City of Early received $215,792 in March, down 8.23% vs. March 2023.  Fiscal year-to-date Early has received $1,259,347, down 9.43% vs. the previous fiscal year.

The Early Municipal Development District received $71,356 in March, down 8.27% vs. March 2023.  Fiscal year-to-date the Early MDD has received $409,839, down 9.91% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.

BANGS

The City of Bangs received $19,754 in March, up 11.98% vs. March 2023.  Fiscal year-to-date Bangs has received $133,064, up 7.77% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.

The Bangs Municipal Development District received $3,182 in March, up 21.73% vs. March 2023.  Fiscal year-to-date the Bangs MDD has received $19,377, up 5.93% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.
