Lady Lions win Brock Relays, Lions place fourth as a team

BROCK – The Brownwood Lady Lions finished first as a team while the Brownwood Lions were fourth at the Brock Relays Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Lions tallied 126 points to outdistance runner-up China Spring (92) and third-place Springtown (81).

Meanwhile, the Lions managed 51 points which left them behind champion Brock (174), runner-up Granbury (147) and third-place Springtown (98).

The Lady Lions collected 13 medals – four gold, three silver and six bronze.

Winning their respective events were Sidney Windham in the 800 meters (2:22.65), Braycee Lee in the 400 meters (1:00.71), Hannah Deen in the high jump (5-4), and the mile relay team (4:11.86).

Coming in second were Windham in the 1600 meters (5:38.18), Jaslin Jones in the discus (103-3), and the sprint relay team (50.57).

Placing third were Deen in both the long jump (16-4.75) and triple jump (32-10.25), Kate Tindol in the 200 meters (27.1), Talia Clifton in the 100-meter hurdles (17.25), Kaya Phillips in the 100 meters (12.92), and the 4×200 relay (1:52.52).

Adding sixth-place efforts were Talia Craff in the 3200 meters (13:42.71) and Aubrie Felux in the high jump (4-10).

The Lions, meanwhile, brought home three medals – a gold, a silver and a bronze.

Ike Hall won the triple jump (36-9.25) and was the runner-up in the long jump (21-3.25), while Morsello Hooker came in third place in the triple jump (43-0).

Finishing fourth were Hooker in the long jump (20-2.75), Hayden Noe in the 110-meter hurdles (16.32), Sam Kallman in the discus (121-0), and Robert Trowbridge in the shot put (43-10).

Placing fifth were Hall in the 100 meters (11.54), Kallman in the shot put (41-4), Trae Jones in the 110-meter hurdles (16.9) and the 4×100 relay (44.4).

Jones was also sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (45.35).

The Brownwood JV Lady Lions also finished first with 124 points, while the JV Lions came in sixth with 38 points.

The Lions and Lady Lions will be back in action Feb. 29 at the Tarleton Relays.
